In the spring of 1899, the seaside Scottish village of Dornoch reluctantly bid farewell to a pragmatic visionary bound for America, where the game of golf was still a novel sport. Relocating proved to be a timely and propitious decision for this talented young highlander, who would go on to design over 400 golf courses across the United States. But success did not corrupt a modest, old-world ethos molded on the coast of the North Sea: Donald Ross's letters and diaries make clear that his greatest passion was always for his family. Today, we honor, preserve and protect our grandfather's legacy by forging alliances with like-minded individuals and organizations.
